How to join us

Show up to a social

Eastwind strives to host two socials each month. However do to Eastwind Castle being an event site, sometimes we are not always able to have two a month.  Be sure to check out our EastwindCastleSC Facebook page for our calendar and Facebook event pages, where you can find all the details about upcoming socials, including dates, times, locations, and the focus of each gathering.

Our socials rotate between the House disciplines of Archery, Weapons Throwing, and Swordsmanship. When teachers are available, we also offer classes so that members can learn new skills and continue developing their knowledge.

Each quarter, we host a Quarterly Feast where everyone brings dishes to share. These gatherings are a time to eat, socialize, play games, enjoy karaoke, and relax with friends.

Our Quarterly Feasts are always overnight events. This allows those who choose to drink to camp overnight and avoid driving home afterward. We want everyone to have a good time while also making responsible choices and staying safe.

One of the first questions we are often asked is, “How much does it cost?”

The answer is simple: participating in Eastwind Village is free.

The only time there may be a cost is when we offer a class where you will be making something to take home. In those cases, participants are simply asked to cover the cost of their materials. For example, when the King taught us how to make leather pouches, participants paid for the leather needed to create their own pouch.

So, why does our group get to use the facility for free? The answer is that we are part of the backbone of Eastwind Castle.

Eastwind Castle is an event site, and as members of the Eastwind Village community, we help maintain the grounds, assist the King with building projects, and volunteer at the larger events that help bring in the funds needed to continue improving and maintaining the village we call home.

Eastwind Village does not cost money to participate in—we simply ask for your time, your skills, and your willingness to help when you can.

Continuing after your first visit

The first time you come out to Eastwind—whether you attended one of our big events, saw us doing a demonstration at Arts in the Heart or Friars Gate, heard about us from a friend, or simply stumbled across one of our socials—you will be greeted with a simple phrase:

“Welcome to Eastwind.”

If you decide to come back again, we welcome you with something even more meaningful:

“Welcome home.”

For many of us, Eastwind is our second home. It is a place where we can gather, learn, build, create, volunteer, and share experiences with others who have become part of our extended family.

Is Eastwind perfect? No. We are people, and people make mistakes. We may not always agree, and we may have different ideas or opinions. However, we believe that disagreements do not have to divide us. By listening to one another and working together, we can take different perspectives and create solutions that include the best ideas from everyone involved.

Eastwind is more than just a place or a group—it is a community. And for those who choose to become part of that community, we are proud to say:

Welcome home.
