In a nutshell we are a medieval lifestyle hobby that works on challenging each other, striving for excellence in ourselves, helping others reach their full potential, and supporting each other through challenges.

Our Motto is Reach High, Lift other’s Higher. Our laws are Nature, Creativity, and Kindness. Eastwind Village is a place where those that are nerdy, geeky, outdoorsy, love history and maybe just don’t fit quite right in mundane groups can meet and grow as a “village”.  Many of the activities we do help people work on skills they may lack to strengthen their lives in the mundane world. We have helped take introverted people and made them comfortable with groups of people. People that were once timid being able to stand their ground. Even though we are a medieval group, the village atmosphere is a great place to learn and work on yourself to grow as an individual. This is why we have people come up with Eastwind names. We have found that setting up goals for your Eastwind character allows people to break walls faster than using their mundane names.

King Keliance and Queen Mysteria have set Eastwind Castle to be in Northern England between the 13-1500s. This does include the lore and mythology of that area also along with anything prior to the 1300’s. The king and queen have a good relationship with the fae of the lands. (So yes, fae characters are welcome) With that, if you know your history, northern England went through a lot of changes and had many influences, which you will find some of that symbology within the village. You can find Germanic, Nordic, Celtic, Gaelic, English, Welsh, Irish and even some Scottish influences. So you have a lot of influences to create a character and look for yourself. Now we do tell people we do have a twist of modern, we do have toilets, showers, electricity and working on AC in a couple buildings, along with some crafts with more modern supplies.  Your first time on grounds you will hear other villagers and citizens say welcome to Eastwind, once you return, we then say welcome home.

If you ever come out to one of our homeschool days, you will learn that in our timeline, you needed two things to be considered a village.  One is an oven, which we have an old style brick oven on site.  The other is a forge, which we also have.  So by the old ways we are a village.

With the reboot of Eastwind village in November 2021, the focus has been more on the village and its people vice the Knights and the knights’ path (you can still walk our knights path if you are interested in becoming a knight). The justification was you need people for a kingdom for the knights to protect. We have ensured that there are more activities for our villagers to participate in without having to be on the knight’s path. Three of our focus areas are live steel archery, live steel weapons throwing (we have multiple weapons to choose from and learn to throw), and foam sword fighting. Even if you do not wish to be a knight of one of those disciplines, you can still learn and help support that house by being a part of their guild.  Our newest endeavor is our Eastwind University which is where our classes are held under. Most of these classes are geared towards our time period, but anyone can request to teach something they know, even if it is a newer craft. Again, our twist of modern. All Eastwind University classes are geared towards any person, no matter what affiliation they are (dag, SCA, amptgard, newbie coming in). Guilds also fall under Eastwind University since they will be more focused on teaching and learning the discipline of that guild.

Eastwind Village is still growing and changing which is why much of our written guidelines are living documents.  They can and will change as we grow and learn together to make our processes more streamlined.

So the first 30 minutes of our socials is spent clearing the forest back from our village areas so we can do our activities without hindrance.  We then have announcements which could range from explaining what will be going on that day, award recognition, or to talk about future events coming.  The rest of the social time goes to whichever house has the focus for that day.  We have house of swords which is foam weapon fighting.  House of rangers which is our thrown weapons such as the throwing stars, knives, hatchets, axes, etc.  House of archery is archery training.  We do both live steel and boffer arrows depending on what the focus is.  Sometimes it is a University day which means someone has come to teach us how to do a craft of some type.  It is a time to get together and help each other reach new goals and have fun.  Some of our events are more formal (meaning citizens and knights are in garb) and other events we are in comfortable clothing having fun like our Luau day or lake days.  If you are coming to join us for the first time, you are not required to be dressed in period garb.  We have a running token tournament that goes throughout the year which was started as a way to incorporate our motto of reach high, lift others higher.  You gain tokens by participating in and winning different events that are planned throughout the year which incorporates all three houses along with our arts and sciences.  During token tournaments you can use earned tokens to either help yourself or others during the event.  For example, if we are having an archery token tournament and you are not doing well, you can spend a token to redo shoot one of your arrows.  However if you use it on someone else, they will get to reshoot 2 arrows.
